Mrs de Masi Taddei Vasoli is a lawyer registered at the Milan Bar (Italy) and – as a foreign lawyer – at the Hanoi Bar (Vietnam). In 1979 she has founded the homonymous law firm (de Masi Taddei Vasoli), which provides to a wide range of clients from all over Europe both legal counselling in transactions and legal assistance before courts in the fields of private, commercial, company, real-estate and international law, with a particular emphasis on pan-European business relations, as well as with the United Arab Emirates and the Far East, in particular China and Vietnam, where the firm is the only Italian one with an operational branch-office.

Between her passing of the Bar examination in 1973 and joining the Milan Bar association in 1979, she worked in the legal department of a multinational company, where she gained experience in international contracts, intellectual property law and company law.

She is trusted lawyer of many national and international companies and entrepreneurial associations.

Her own practice, which now counts numerous professionals and, although proud of its independence, boasts a worldwide network of professionals and lawyers whose reliability and team-working skills have been tested through years of personal and professional acquaintance.

She is a regular lecturer on several legal topics, including international contracts, franchising, trademark licensing, “vertical” agreements and international sale of goods.

She has published many articles on specialised magazines and co-wrote with B. Giannelli and S. Saviolo the book Il licensing nel sistema moda, published by Etas in 2002 about trademark licensing in the fashion industry.


Education

 

After a classical education (bachelor in 1966), she obtained a first class law degree from Milan University (1970) and successfully passed the Bar examination in 1973 and joined the Milan Bar association in 1979. Mrs de Masi Taddei Vasoli’s native language is Italian and she writes and speaks French and English.

Mr Vasoli is a lawyer registered both at the Milan Bar and at the Hanoi Bar as a foreign attorney. He works on private and commercial law at the Italian law firm de Masi Taddei Vasoli, with offices in Milan, Italy and Hanoi, Vietnam and numerous partner law firms in the European Union, China and the USA.

His main areas of practice include contract law, company law, and litigation. In particular, his activity focuses on:

  • foreign investment consulting (including contracts, company formation, M&A and cross-border operations, as well as cultural issues), mostly for Italian and foreign companies investing in China and Vietnam, countries where he works regularly and on which he has produced publications and held lectures; he also does consulting for the Italian Embassy in Hanoi;
  • agency, distribution, licensing agreements;
  • legal assistance for trading in commodities and raw materials;
  • company formation and corporate group structuring;
  • legal counselling on flotation on London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

He is a founding partner of the consulting network China Advisory Partners (www.chinadvisorypartners.com), based in Hong Kong S.A.R..

He has worked for other law firms in Beijing and Brussels and is a regular lecturer on legal topics and was invited to deliver speeches about international, EU, commercial and antitrust law also at the Italian Embassy in Hanoi, at the universities of Bologna and Florence, at the fashion chamber of Milan and at the Bruno Leoni institute.

He holds a law degree from Milan’s Università Bocconi (2003) and has pursued post-graduate courses at Milan’s ISPI (Institute of International Affairs), where he obtained the diploma “Business in China” in 2004, and at the universities of Vienna (International Summer Program, 2000 and 2001) and Strasbourg (Faculté Internationale de Droit Comparé, 2006).

 
Publications

He is co-author of a book about the Microsoft case (Colpirne uno per educarne cento, supervised by A. Mingardi and P. Zanetto, published in 2005 by Rubbettino) and, along with A. Cianci and B. Rossetti, wrote Investire in Cina, a book about investing in China, published in 2006 by Rubbettino. He has contributed articles for Ideazione.com and Emporion (two Italian websites on international affairs and geopolitics), and The Economic Observer (an independent Chinese monthly on culture and economics).  He also writes regularly for the legal magazine Diritto e Pratica delle Società published by the Italian financial press group Il Sole 24 Ore and for issues of the US group World Trade Executive.

 
He is a member of Rotaract Club Milano Duomo (www.rotaractmilanoduomo.it), which he presided in 2004-2005, and is currently Rotary International District 2040 Rotaract Representative (i.e. governor of Rotaract in Milan and the surrounding area) for 2007-2008 (www.rotaract2040.org).

Riccardo Bianco Levrin is an entrepreneur and business consultant with almost fifteen years’ experience in Asia.

He is the managing partner of the Vietnam office of de Masi Taddei Vasoli, the only Italian law firm with a fully operational branch-office in Hanoi. He advises clients on a wide range of topics, including financial investments in South East Asia and foreign direct investments in the region, with a specialisation in finance, technology transfer, wood and other raw materials, real-estate, textile and fashion.

His present skills and knowledge about FDIs in Vietnam and in the Asia-Pacific area in general derive from successful past work and entrepreneurial experiences which include Bianco Levrin Riccardo s.r.l., Trading & Consulting Fashion Design, Vietnam Representative (2005-present); ccisea (Camera di Commercio Italiana per il Sud Est Asiativo, Italian Chamber of Commerce for South East Asia), Vietnam Representative (2000-2004); Wictorvina Co.
